My job

I work with environment and health in our San Francisco office, focusing on air quality. Air quality is an issue we need to tackle, sooner rather than later; air quality is very closely tied to climate changes and has a huge impact on public health.

A real difference in people’s lives

I love the work I do, and I am proud of it, because it makes a real difference in people’s lives. I came to Ramboll because I wanted to see projects unfold in real life.

Right now, I am working on a project with a community group in the San Francisco Bay areas. The community is heavily affected by air pollution, but now we are helping them install 50 new air quality sensors in the area that will track and monitor pollution in the air. That information can be used by the community as a guideline for how best to protect themselves from air pollution on a day-to-day basis, and for recommendations for future planning to improve the air quality.

At the same time, we are training young people in the community to collect and handle the air quality samples – skills that translate to employable work. It’s a very cool project.

Working for the same mission

If I had to name three things that make me proud of working in Ramboll, it would be our expertise, our people, and our mission.

I have great colleagues, who are as passionate about their work as I am and very knowledgeable as well. Even though the company is quite large and spread out geographically, we can leverage all this knowledge globally.

It means a lot to be part of a company that has such a strong mission – we want to drive sustainable change. Of course, some days, work is just work. But knowing that you have an overall purpose is really inspiring and it is great to see that everyone around you feels the same way – that we are all working for the same mission.
