Mark Dewson is a Ramboll Director responsible for large multi-disciplinary projects, primarily in the highways and aviation transportation sectors, offering guidance and design input to many facets of infrastructure engineering. He joined Ramboll (then Gifford) in 2000 as Assistant Engineer, becoming Principal Engineer in 2005 and Director in 2008.

With over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry including design engineer in both the private and public sectors, Mark has worked on projects in many countries including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Ireland, Romania, Brunei and Gibraltar.

Recent projects include:

  • Design Director for the new Runway and Airside Civil Engineering works associated with the new second terminal at a major international airport in South America
  • Director for the Runway Rehabilitation and Code F Upgrade Project for Brunei International Airport, Brunei Darussalam
  • Design Project Manager for the new road tunnel under Gibraltar Airport Runway

In 2012 Mark was Design Manager for the Design Build Contract for M9 Junction 1a, and Highway Design Manager for Jersey Airport Cargo Area Access Road.

Having worked for a wide range of clients, including Local Authorities, Contractors and Developers and Organisations / Operators, Mark has valuable knowledge and experience in design management, including: Traditional and Design and Build / EPC Contracts, programming (resource and financial), statutory approvals and the design of Highway and Airfield Infrastructure.

With high level project management and leadership skills, Mark contributes to Ramboll’s Business Plan by coordinating and controlling resources and finances for projects, and reporting on fee forecasting and workload programming.

Shinfield Eastern Relief Road, M4 overbridge

Shinfield Eastern Relief Road (ERR) forms part of a scheme that will relieve congestion in the village of Shinfield in Berkshire, and also provide access to land for development of new housing and a science park for the University of Reading.

Hammersmith Flyover - Phase 2 refurbishment and strengthening (HFO2)

Phase 2 strengthening of the Hammersmith Flyover (HFO2), was a phenomenally complex £100m programme including innovative engineering solutions to install a full new prestress without removing the original. With 70,000 users every day on a key strategic route into London, the structure, which had been deteriorating due to significant corrosion, presented many technical, logistical, programme and political challenges.
