Steve Brown joined Ramboll in 2014 as Director - Rail. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer with 29 years' experience in programme / project management, programme controls, contract administration / negotiation and asset management. Education: BEng(Hons) CEng MICE

Steve is responsible for developing the rail business and overseeing some of Ramboll’s UK rail projects.

During 14 years at Network Rail, Steve spent 12 years in Project Management (eight years as Programme Manager and four as Programme Controller), and two years in Asset Management. He has expertise in heavy rail, light rail, public transport and highway civil engineering works, as well as new build, refurbishment, asset management and maintenance building projects.

Before joining Ramboll, Steve was lead client for development and construction of Network Rail's £50m headquarters in Basingstoke. The new Campus headquarters will encompass office accommodation for 400 people, training facilities for project management and maintenance staff, signalling control centre for the whole route and associated health and welfare facilities.

He also provided project management and planning advice in preparation for setting up the alliance between Network Rail and SSWT.

In 2010, as Programme Manager at Network Rail, Steve managed the Commercial Property team of 40 staff with a typical annual programme value of c£50m.

During this time, he project managed construction of Southampton Airport Parkway multi-storey car park on behalf of Network Rail. This included the procurement process, the planning application and undertaking a full design review to NR GRIP protocol. Steve oversaw the principal contractor's work and led all negotiations with the client, Stagecoach South West Trains (SSWT). The project was delivered safely, within budget, ahead of schedule and to demanding expectations to satisfy the franchise commitment made by SSWT to DfT/ORR.
