A week ago, Cyclone Gaja struck Tamil Nadu and left a trail of destruction in its wake. Affecting almost 250,000 people and leaving thousands homeless, Ramboll employees in Chennai and Hyderabad saw an opportunity to provide emergency kits along with financial support from Ramboll’s CSR fund in India.
Working closely with Makkal Padhai, Ramboll’s donation of INR 200,000 will be used to provide families stranded with the necessary supplies, while employees raised INR 151,901 through an internal fundraiser which they used to make 640 emergency kits, each containing a sleeping mat, bed sheet, 3kgs rice, 2kgs dal and a one-litre bottle of drinking water.
“The cyclone and its aftermath has had a severe impact on the communities in Tamil Nadu, and we hope that our donation will help assist residents in need,” said Richard Beard, Managing Director Middle East and Asia.
“I would like to express my gratitude, appreciation to our employees and management for their prompt support to the disaster relief of heavily wrecked delta districts of Tamil Nadu, due to cyclone Gaja”, said Balaji Swaminathan, Director GEC, India.
