Sankara Ganesh Dhoopam, Head of Special Projects, Telecom, based at Ramboll’s Hyderabad office in India presented at the 11th ‘Annual Conference on Telecom Infrastructure in India’ held in Gurugram on 20 and 21 April 2017.
Speaking at the session on ‘Tower Design and Structures’, Ganesh spoke at length on the emerging trends in tower design, cost implications of the new designs, key issues and challenges plus Ramboll’s solutions for setting up telecom infrastructure across India.
During the session, Ganesh highlighted the core challenges such as site availability, low footprint sites and aesthetics among others, along with Ramboll’s design solutions including optimised towers and foundations, monopoles, camouflage, smart city poles and renewable hybrid solutions. Ganesh added that these solutions are designed as per the Indian standards to address the challenges.
The conference was attended by hundreds of delegates including telecom operators, industry analysts, policymakers and regulators who discussed the opportunities and challenges as well as showcasing the latest innovations and most promising technologies in the telecom infrastructure sector. Nokia Networks, Indus Towers, China Telecom, Cellular Operators Association of India and other high profile telecom operators were among the participants at this event.
