Ramboll welcomes UK rail signalling specialist, DEG Signal, into the business
DEG Signal is a 17-strong specialist rail signalling business providing consultancy and design services for both mainline rail and metro systems. They work with clients such as TfL, Network Rail, Thales, Ansaldo, Amey and Siemens and have recently completed projects including the concept design for an alternative signalling protection system on London Overground interoperable lines and are also working on the Thameslink Resilience Project, primarily on the Brighton Main Line.
This sits well with Ramboll’s growing rail portfolio that includes an extensive body of work across HS2, a lead role on Network Rail’s Digital Rail programme, completion of key Crossrail stations and key projects overseas such as our role in leading the consortium responsible for upgrading Denmark’s entire rail signalling system – the first country in Europe to do so.
The extended capability granted by this acquisition will further expand our multidisciplinary support for rail clients, adding deeper rail signalling expertise to our portfolio. This comes at a key time as the focus on digitalising railways remains high in order to facilitate a greater frequency of trains with improved punctuality.
Commenting on the acquisition, Mathew Riley, Ramboll’s UK Managing Director, said:
“We are very excited to be bringing the team at DEG Signal on board – they are a team we have worked with on multiple occasions and so we know that their excellent capabilities will help us to deliver even better value for clients."
Tonni Christiansen, Ramboll’s Global Rail Director, remarked:
“This fuels our continued growth as one of the leading engineering groups in the rail sector. From our work on HS2 in the UK to the implementation of ERTMS in Denmark, we are involved in some of the most exciting rail projects around.”
Doug Green, DEG Signal Chief Executive added:
“Having collaborated with Ramboll across a number of years, we couldn’t pick a better partner to join. Their expertise and resources will be a major asset for our team and we are glad to be able to offer our clients a broader suite of services to support them in their projects. We can’t wait to get started.”
