In connection with a comprehensive modernisation of the production machinery the plans for a new slaughterhouse emerged.
The main objective for the new Danish Crown BEEF facility was to centralise and optimise the entire beef slaughtering process and logistics at the new facilities in Holsted in the municipality of Vejen. Furthermore focus was on optimising the energy consumption through modern technologies.
The new facility employs approx. 300 employees and carries out a slaughter capacity of 4,500 units per week. This process includes cutting, boning, mincing and retail packaging of beef and cooling. In addition facilities for tripe cleaning, cooking and tallow melting were established in relation to the slaughterhouse.
Other related activities were pre-treatment of wastewater, drainage systems for surface water, car wash for trucks, boiler room, workshop and separate welfare building for the drivers.
All engineering disciplines have been undertaken by Ramboll.
