Detailed foundation design of 100 offshore wind turbine foundations to be erected on water depths of 18 to 30 m LAT.
Ramboll was responsible for detailed foundation design of 100 wind turbine foundations erected approximately 12 km off Foreness Point, the most eastern part of Kent. The work consisted of both primary and secondary steel design which eventually was certified by CA.
The 100 installed turbines are Vestas V90 wind turbines that have a total capacity of 300 MW. This is sufficient to supply approx. 240,000 British homes per year with clean energy.
The foundation structures were designed for installation at water depths between 18 and 30 m LAT. Issues like sea transportation, lifting and handling of structures and pile driving analyses were also dealt with.
The detailed foundation design ensures the client a minimum 25 years reliable foundation for the installed wind turbines. The wind farm covers an area of 35km2 and is one of the world's largest offshore wind farms.
