As societies become increasingly aware of the need for coherent, sustainable living environments, effective urban planning and development has earned a high priority. Ramboll’s Master Planning and Landscape Architecture services help develop urban areas in a sustainable way. The result is improved conditions for people – and the environment.

Realising Complex Urban Systems

Communication and understanding between a wide range of disciplines is critical to successful master planning, which is why our ability to integrate specialisms is so appreciated by our customers. We help customers to realise development potential, particularly in complex urban situations, and have deep knowledge of the constraints and opportunities involved. We identify key risks and advise on options for their mitigation. We provide the spectrum of knowledge required for the development of all kinds of urban, suburban, former industrial and greenfield areas. The realities of commercial feasibility are central to our consultancy.

We also work closely with local communities, understanding their needs and requirements and facilitate understanding of their unique urban fabric. Ultimately, this creates solutions and plans which go beyond pubic buy-in, but ensures a holistic and informed approach to planning and design, tailor-made to the individual needs of communities.

Close Coordination from Concept to Completion

We have thorough knowledge and experience, as well as an in-depth understanding of typical development stages, from concept to completion – from architectural and infrastructure design, environmental and geotechnical assessment, legislative requirements, transport planning, environmental issues and socio-economic implications, to planning strategy, phasing and delivery.

In keeping with our philosophy as a practice, our Master Planning and Landscape Architecture team encourages the cross fertilization of ideas between all disciplines involved and we actively encourage and promote an inclusive and transparent, client focused, design and delivery methodology.

Founded on a journey of discovery with each client, Ramboll and Atelier Dreiseitl projects ranging from urban regeneration and mixed-use developments, to art sculptures and new city master plans - spur innovation, inspire confidence and reveal creativity. Each concept, idea, master plan, model and built implementation reflects an appreciation of uniqueness and authenticity to design and improve the quality of life, conditions for people and cities.

Vast Master Planning Experience

We can be appointed to carry out any combination of Master Planning and Landscape Architecture services from our multi-disciplinary profile.

Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park

Bishan Park is one of the most popular parks in the heartlands of Singapore. As part of a much-needed park upgrade and plans to improve the capacity of the Kallang channel along the edge of the park, works were carried out simultaneously to transform the utilitarian concrete channel into a naturalised river.

Tanner Springs Park

Tanner Springs Park

Formerly a wetland, the Pearl District was bisected by Tanner Creek and sided by the broad Willamette River. It was the rail yards and the industry who first claimed and drained the land. Over the past 30 years, a new neighbourhood has progressively established itself – young, mixed, urban and dynamic, today the Pearl District is home to families and businesses.

Tianjin Cultural Park

Tianjin Cultural Park

Tianjin is one of China’s top 5 cities, not just in size and population but also in terms of business investments. Located just half an hour south-east of Beijing by high-speed train, Tianjin is also close to the sea. The high-water table needs to be maintained to prevent seawater encroaching inland and the dry, harsh climate does not preclude flooding.

Urban liveability calls for urgent action

Sometimes doing nothing can be the most costly option – both in environmental and financial terms. Representing 3.5 million residents, Jeddah officials have realised that swift action is needed to make the city more liveable in the future. Ramboll established a cost-benefit analysis and crafted a masterplan to ensure future sustainable development for Jeddah.

Sungei Buloh Wetland Park

Sungei Buloh Wetland Park

The Sungei Buloh Wetlands Reserve is a nature reserve located in the northwest of Singapore. In 2002, it was the first wetlands reserve to be designated in Singapore and its global importance as a stop-over point for migratory birds was recognized by its international’s inclusion in the East Asian Australasian Shorebird Site Network. In 2003, it was also listed as an ASEAN Heritage Park.
